NOW ENROLLING: CORONA UNIVERSITY

You’ve Been Accepted: Corona University is Here
Corona University is here. Free courses, professional development, no homework, and yes, you can earn internal degrees without reliving finals week. Courses begin June 29, register now on Vector Solutions
Corona University is launching as the City of Corona’s free (no tuition or student loans!!), internal learning program designed to help employees better understand the organization, explore professional growth opportunities, and build connections across departments.

Why Corona University?
Corona University was created to give employees a clearer view of the City as a whole. Through shared learning experiences, employees will have the opportunity to learn more about how the City operates, how departments support one another, and how individual roles contribute to the broader organization.
Through the Employee Engagement Survey, employees shared that they wanted more opportunities to expand their knowledge, develop new skills, and continue growing throughout their careers. Corona University is one way the City is responding to that feedback.
Why Should You Enroll?
Corona University is for employees who want to engage in opportunities to develop professionally, learn more about the City, and take an active role in their own growth. Earn internal degrees that demonstrate your skills, expand your knowledge of City operations, and show your commitment to continued professional development.
Launching First: The Civic Foundations Track
The first learning pathway available through Corona University is the Civic Foundations Track.
Civic Foundations provides a shared understanding of local government, public service, organizational culture, and the City of Corona.
Similar to General Education courses at a traditional university, Civic Foundations provides employees with a shared understanding of local government, public service, organizational culture, and the City of Corona.
Each course is two hours long and held in person. No homework. No term papers. No group projects with that one person who disappears for three weeks. Courses are designed to be interactive, practical, and directly connected to the work we do at the City. Core courses include:
· You Belong Here: Purpose, Vision, & Values in Action
· Public Service in Practice: Communication & De-Escalation
· Understanding the Public: Corona's Community
· Local Government 101: Foundations & Pathways
· Ethics & Code of Conduct for Local Government Employees
To earn a Corona University Civic Foundations degree, employees must complete all Core Courses and earn an additional 4 credits through Elective Courses.
Looking Ahead

Corona University is designed to grow over time. Future learning pathways will include leader development, analyst skill enhancement, and additional courses that support both professional growth and organizational effectiveness. Consider Civic Foundations the first semester — minus the dorm rooms, dining hall mystery meat, and impossible parking.
